CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENING & NOVEMBER DISCOS

It is with some sadness that we have taken the decision to cancel the Christmas shopping evening that was planned for next week and to postpone the November discos, sincerest apologies to all. The PTFA team are a bit thin on the ground at the moment – so please, if you have the time to help out with any upcoming events, do get in touch on the email or telephone number below. On the plus side, we plan to host a Valentine’s themed disco before the February half term – which we’ve never done before, so hopefully that will be something for the children to look forward to J

NON-UNIFORM DAY DONATIONS

We’re less than 3 weeks away from this year’s Christmas Fair that will take place on Monday 4th December. There are two non-uniform days to go, this Friday 17th November and Friday 1st December. For this Friday, we would politely request donations/gifts that would be suitable for a brother or sister. On Friday 1st December, it’s sweets from KS1 pupils and for KS2 students we are asking for donations for our every popular “Lucky Tree” – which can be any denomination of coins in an envelope. Being the festive season, chocolate coins are obviously acceptable!

We are also still collecting, and are incredibly grateful, for any donations you may have of toys & unwanted gifts, please bring them into reception. If you can spare any time in the mornings to pop in after dropping your child off to help move the donations to the storage area, please contact us.

CAKE COMPETITION

Every year there is a cake competition on the day of the fair, split into KS1 & KS2 and this year we shall be rewarding the winners and runners up in both categories. Should your child wish to participate, please could they bake (or simply decorate!) six cakes and bring in on Monday 4th December in a named container. The cakes will then be judged and sold on the cake table at the fair. Any other cake donations are most welcome too – we always sell out on this stall!

RAFFLE TICKETS

Look out for these coming home via your children very soon. Our 1st Prize this year will be a Kindle Fire, but there will also be a cash prize and a hamper, among many others. Extra books are available from the office should you require more than those that are sent home with your child.

CHRISTMAS FAIR HELPERS

We are slightly short of helpers for the fair set up on Friday 1st December and on Monday 4th December to help run a stall (as mentioned above, we’re on a bit of a recruitment drive!). It’s quite an amusing couple of days – especially if you’re assigned the sawdust stall! We would appreciate any time that you may have to help out. Please email westhillprimaryptfa@gmail.com or text on 07843 239108 to let us know if you’re available.

On the day itself, the fair will be open during school hours for the children to come along and choose gifts they would like to purchase. Please send your child in with some money (preferably in change!) in a named purse, along with a sturdy carrier bag to enable them to transport their goodies home. All KS1 children will be accompanied by a YR6 pupil to help them with their shopping/money management. As well as purchasing gifts for their loved ones, there are also games for the children to play such as marble pots, roll a car, lucky lolly etc. If you ask any child who has been to a Xmas fair before, it really is one of the highlights of the year for them!

CALENDARS AND PLANNERS

It’s not too late to place an order. £5 for a calendar and £6.50 for an A3 planner. Please use the above contact details should you have any queries and send payment into school or contact us for the bank details.

Finally, we wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all your support and donations on the non-uniform days. We are aware that it’s a particularly busy time of year for everyone so all the extra effort is very much appreciated as the Christmas Fair is always such an exciting time for the children – not to mention the funds raised going towards exciting treats and goodies for them.
