Reception Admissions (2027 - 2028)

If your child was born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023, and you wish to apply for a place here at West Hill Primary Academy, the key dates for the application process are listed below.

Friday 6th November 2026

Online application process opens. All parents should go to www.kent.gov.uk/primaryadmissions to register and apply.

If you are unable to register online please contact kentonlineadmissions@kent.gov.uk who will be able to assist you with an alternative method of applying.

Friday 15th January 2027

Online application process closes for the main round.

Any amendments after this date must be emailed to kentonlineadmissions@kent.gov.uk

Friday 16th April 2027

National Offer Day.

Offers of school places sent to parents via email after 4pm.

By Friday 30th April 2027

Deadline for parents to contact school to accept/refuse the place that has been offered.

Parents should also fill out the waiting list form from the link in the offer email to be added to the waiting list of schools named on the original application.

Thursday 13th May 2027

Reallocation Offer day for the second round of applications.

After this date waiting lists will be maintained by the schools and they will send out offers for any places that may become available.

By Monday 17th May 2027

Appeals need to be lodged by this date to be heard before September.

Appeals information can be found at www.kent.gov.uk/schoolappeals .

You can only appeal for schools that were named on your RCAF.

June to July 2027

Admissions appeals are held.

September 2027

Pupils will start school.

Reception Appeals

If your child is due to start Primary school in September 2026, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Thursday, 16th April 2026).

You must submit your appeal before Monday 18th May 2026 for it to be considered by Monday 20th July 2026.  Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

In-Year Admissions

If you would like to apply for a place at West Hill Primary Academy outside of the normal admissions round, you will need to complete an In-Year Admission Form and return it to our Admissions Officer, Clare Sommerville, at whadmissions@golden-thread.org.  You must also provide supporting evidence to show that you are living at the address from which the application is being made, details are as follows:-

  1. Your child’s birth certificate and/or valid passport;
  2. 2026-27 Council Tax Statement OR signed tenancy agreement;
  3. ONE of the following documents:
    Driver’s licence;
    Schedule of motor insurance;
    Utility bill such as gas/electricity/water/telephone/broadband;
    Payslip.
  4. Any ONE of the following to show your child is also living at this address at the same time:

Child or Working Tax Credit/Child Benefit/JSA/Disability Benefit/Universal Credit Letter;
Savings account statement;
NHS medical card;
NHS immunisation letter;
Hospital appointment letter;
GP registration letter;
Pre-school/nursery invoice (for Reception children only).

If there are no places available at the time of your application, your child will be placed on the waiting list.  Applicants are prioritised in accordance with our over-subscription criteria:-

  1. Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children
  2. Health, Social and Special Access Reasons
  3. Current Family Association
  4. Children of Staff
  5. Nearness of child’s home to the school

In accordance with our Admissions Policy, pupils will remain on the waiting list until such time as:-

a) place is offered.
b) the parent/carer asks for their child to be taken off the waiting list.
c) one calendar year has passed.

This means that should no offer be forthcoming for the pupil after one calendar year, we will write to the parent/carer advising that the child’s details will be removed from our waiting list.  If a parent/carer wishes to reapply again at this point, then they are most welcome to do so.

Appeals for In-Year Admissions

Once a pupil has been placed on the waiting list, if the parent so chooses, they can submit an appeal with the Appeals Team at Kent County Council.  Further details on the appeals process can be found at Appeal a school offer – Kent County Council

Year 6 Pupils Moving to Secondary School - September 2027 Admissions - Key Dates

Tuesday 1st September 2026

Online application process opens.

All parents should go to www.kent.gov.uk/ola to register and apply.  Information about secondary schools will be available from the Kent County Council website.  School open evenings begin, and details can be found on each individual school’s website.

Thursday 10th September 2026

Children in Kent who registered to take the Kent Test (11+)

Any amendments after this date must be emailed to kentonlineadmissions@kent.gov.uk

Thursday 15th October 2026

Kent Test (11+) assessment decisions sent to parents after 4.00pm

Monday 2nd November 2026

Online application process closes for the main round.  Any amendments after this date must be emailed to kentonlineadmissions@kent.gov.uk

Monday 1st March 2027

National Offer Day – offers of school places sent to parents via email after 4.00pm

Offer day for the second round of applications (known as reallocation).

After this date waiting lists will be maintained by the schools and they will send out offers for any places that may become available.

Parents who have received an offer of a place from KCC can approach schools directly for alternative places.

April to June 2026

Admission appeals held.

September 2027

Children start in Year 7 at secondary school.
