Term 2

This term our topic is AD900 where we are learning about The Mayans who lived in Mexico at that time. To kick start our topic we held a Day of the Dead parade which is a very important event in the Mexican calendar.

MAYAN DAY

We held a Mayan day to celebrate our learning. The children planned it all themselves and passed on some of their learning to YEAR 4 when they became teachers and planned and taught them lessons.

Term 1

This term our topic has been 'Revolution' and we have loved finding out about the Victorians and how the industrial revolution and the common use of electricity changed the way we live in Britain.

We have explored the local area and seen the Workhouse on West Hill in Dartford, which is like the one Jim escapes from in Streetchild (the book we are reading in English lessons) and used the notes we made on the style of victorian housing to design and build our own.

We hope the parents enjoyed walking around our Victorian museum where we showcased our learning including history (finding out about Victorian life), art (designing Victorian wallpaper in the style of William Morris), ICT (researching and presenting information) and science (applying out knowledge of electric circuits).
