World Book Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Thursday 1st March we will be celebrating World Book Day. To promote reading across the school, each class will be carrying out a range of activities based on a book throughout the day.

We would like to invite children to come dressed as their favourite book character. This will be a colourful and imaginative part of our event, which I hope you will encourage your child to participate in. There will be a ‘best dressed’ winner from each class so get creative with your costumes! Please could each child bring in the book that inspired their costume as they will be sharing it with other children.

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we are challenging your child to complete the ‘Reach for the Stars Reading Challenge.’ The challenge is to read a book in different ways or places and tick the attached challenge sheet when your child has completed them. There are three blank stars which children may like to complete their very own star challenge. Please could you take photos of your child in these weird and wonderful places and once printed, please send them into your child’s class teacher. These will then form part of a World Book Day display. A small prize will be awarded for any child who completes the challenge.

We are all looking forward to the events and I am sure you agree it is a fun way to promote reading across the school.

Yours sincerely

Miss R Williams
